20 Postcards of Istanbul's Mosques

Süleymaniye Mosque with its complex is located on the fourth of the seven hills of Istanbul. It was built by order of Sultan Suleiman I and was constructed by the great Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan. The mosque, which has one minaret on each corner, is entered through three doors into its square. The square is surrounded by portals with domes and columns. At the center of the square there is a fountain. The main building of the mosque measures about 63 - 68 m. The main dome is 53 meters above the ground and its diameter is 26m.
